Do “these” things abound in you?

On Sunday our pastor spoke on 2 Peter 1-

He spoke of the promises that we have in Christ- the divine power that God has given to us through Christ Jesus, which gives us everything we need to live a godly life.

Read:

2 Peter 1:1-3

What “power” do you think Peter is speaking of ?

Through this power given to us by the knowledge of our Lord Jesus, we are bestowed great promises, which will enable us to live a diligent life for Him. A life in which we escape the corruption of our own fleshly desires and the corruptions of this world. However, we  must first add to our faith “these” things.

Read:

2 Peter 1:5-7

What are the “these” things?

When these things dwell in us, then our lives are full of  “fruit”.

What happens when they don’t dwell in us?

Read :

2 Peter 1:8-9

A person becomes blind, short sighted, forgetting Christ purged him/her from his/her old sins.

As we examine our lives today- can we see “these” things within us?

Do we have:

diligence?

virtue?

knowledge?

temperance?

patience?

godliness?

brotherly kindness?

charity or love?

Or have we gone blind?

Dear Ones- examining yourselves  is a  difficult task. Admitting that we miss one or all of these attributes in our lives brings realization to the fact that we are missing the power Christ bestowed upon us.

Heavenly Father- the Scriptures promise us power through Christ. Power to live the life stated in the Word. Power to love others as Christ loved us. Power to live with diligence, virtue, kindness, and godliness. Jesus, we need you within us to bring glory to Your kingdom. Guide us through Your Word, giving us wisdom and strength to face each day.

We love you- Amen

Thank you for allowing me to walk you through the Word of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Angie

  1. Examining ourselves is a difficult task, but it's one that needs to be done.

  2. AMEN!

I am truly blessed by your sharing of the scriptures. I often find myself right back on square one sometimes, and wondering how did I get there. Thank goodness for God's grace and mercy that He still sees me as a work in progress.

Whisperings

Some of you know I have lots of children. Seven to be exact, and most of them are older and Most of them are young men except for one boy.   Lately one of my youngmen have been struggling. He works at an amusement park, and is around people all day long who standards, or morals do not quite match what we(through God's grace) have tried to instill in him. All day long he is whispered at about what he should have, and what he should be doing at "his age".  Today while reading the Word these verses stood out.... Proverbs 23 15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17  Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the  Lord  all the day long His heart started to "envy" what these whisperers were saying to him and started to feel like he has been missing out on something in life.  Really?  How do we envy sinners?  How do we as professing believers say "

Day two
