News from PA

Dear Friends

It has been a while- seems to be the themes of all my posts lately. But life has been on busy side since I arrived here in PA. Helping in dads school, trying to spend time with my parents as much as I can, in between helping Paul get started with college, he is also working. I also have been helping the other boys finish high school to be sure that they participate in graduation by May 14th. Yes finally two more will be graduating, it will be over, this phase of their life anyway.

Maria and Joey are doing ABSOLUTELY wonderful in cyberschool. Which makes me very happy and reassures me that this was a good decision for them. Noah is growing and more than ready to start learning, but time seems to be an issue and I have NO idea where to start. The typical going over his ABC's seems to bore him out of his mind. So I have to come up with a better way. I will start researching kindergarten curriculum, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated from other homeschoolers.

Blessings

Angie

  1. My goals for Kindergarten were to learn to write the alphabet and learn to read. The other stuff was just gravy-- puzzles, counting, games, and reading tons of books together. We used Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons- just the reading part, not the writing. 5 minutes a day and we always stopped at lesson 70-something bc they were ready for real books. :) Oh, but we started the 100EZL after they learned all their letter sounds from the Leap Frog Letter Factory DVD (and Word Factory- I love the whole series).

Whisperings

Some of you know I have lots of children. Seven to be exact, and most of them are older and Most of them are young men except for one boy.   Lately one of my youngmen have been struggling. He works at an amusement park, and is around people all day long who standards, or morals do not quite match what we(through God's grace) have tried to instill in him. All day long he is whispered at about what he should have, and what he should be doing at "his age".  Today while reading the Word these verses stood out.... Proverbs 23 15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17  Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the  Lord  all the day long His heart started to "envy" what these whisperers were saying to him and started to feel like he has been missing out on something in life.  Really?  How do we envy sinners?  How do we as professing believers say "
