Websters 1828 dictionary-image

To crown means to bestow upon as a mark of honor or dignity

A crown honors the person who is wearing it. A crown is an identifying object that “honors” or is a testimony. When you see a crown upon someone's head you know they are special.

The Word speaks of crowns for a reward to those who are faithful to the Lord Jesus: crowns of rejoicing, crowns of righteousness.

A wife is an identifying entity for her husband.

What conclusion do people come to when they see you with your husband or when they hear you speak about your husband?

Proverbs 31:23
(23)  Her husband  is known  in the gates, when he sitteth among  the elders  of the land.

This verse implies that part of the reason her husband is known is because of her faithfulness to her calling. She was honored by others and her attitude brought blessings unto her husband.

How can a wife   be a crown to her husband?

Proverbs 18:22

[Whoso] findeth a wife findeth a good [thing], and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Do you want to be a good thing to your husband?

Do you want to obtain favor of the Lord?

Proverbs 19:14

House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.

A women who is a crown to her husband blesses her home by being frugal and thoughtful of finances.

Each letter of the Word CROWN- will be used to explain how a wife can be a crown to her husband.

C-      1. chaste conversation

A chaste conversation is pure and no one can find fault in it

        2. content

1 Timothy 6:6-But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Philippians 4:11-Not that I speak in respect of want: for I      have  learned, in  whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be  content

What is your attitude towards what God has called you to be?

3.  Countenance

   Proverb 15:13-

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by   sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Your countenance is a reflection of your husband. Do not act defeated and exhausted all the time.

Psalm 16:9-Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

R -   1. Reverence

Ephesians 5:33 -Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife [see] that she reverence [her] husband.

   What does reverence mean?

  •            to be frighten of
  •           to be alarmed
  •          to be in ah
  •         to revere

We are to show reverence to our husbands not because he does anything but because of the position he holds.

We are to reverence even if he is not living for the Lord.

O-  1. Obedience

               Titus 2:5 -

[To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Ephesians 5:22-Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Colossians 3:18-Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

What does this mean?

  • things your husband prefers should be done.

example- if he prefers the AC at 60 and you prefer it at 80- you should honor his preference not yours.

  • Honor his requests

example: Maybe he has asked you not to spend money but you think to yourself “ I work”, “ I contribute to the budget. I should be able to do whatever I want” . That is NOT honoring or obeying nor submitting to your husband and his authority.

  2. Outward appearance

      1 Peter 3:3-4-

Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

  1. We should have a right HEART first! No matter of attention we pay to the outside will not change what is in your heart.
  2. We should be lovely inwardly and outwardly bringing honor   to Christ and our husbands.
  3. We are to be modestly dressed
  4. we are to be clean and neat
  5. Our children should be clean and neat
  6. We should take very good care of our husband’s(ironing, and laundry clean)

3.  Others

            John 13:34-35-

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 15: 11-12

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

1 John 3:11-

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

We should be willing to become involved in others lives!

Proverb 31:20

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

W- 1. Wisdom

We must have wisdom to do what is required of us. We must seek God daily. We must have wisdom to train our children, to show love and honor and to accomplish that calling as a Godly Woman.

    2. Working willing with your hands

Proverbs 31:13-She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands

When we do things we should do them with a willing spirit to serve, and love our families. Remember you are an example to your children. If you complain every time you have to do something, so will they.

Colossians 3:17-And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

N- Nagging

We should not be nagging, causing discord, strife or be discontent.

There are a number of scriptures for this…

  1. Proverb 21:19-[It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman
  2. Proverb 19:13-A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.
  3. Proverb 27:15-A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
  4. Proverb 25:24-[It is] better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.
  5. Proverb 30:21-23-

For three [things] the earth is disquieted, and for four [which] it cannot bear:
    For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;
For an odious [woman] when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

  6. Proverb 13:10-Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised [is] wisdom.

Strife and discord are disorder!!!!

Obey the word for we are to be his glory and his crown even if he is difficult or unloving.

Think dear sisters in Christ are you a crown to your beloved or rottingness to his bones?

May these words embed themselves in our hearts that we may pressed in towards the mark!

Love you all-

Angie

Whisperings

Some of you know I have lots of children. Seven to be exact, and most of them are older and Most of them are young men except for one boy.   Lately one of my youngmen have been struggling. He works at an amusement park, and is around people all day long who standards, or morals do not quite match what we(through God's grace) have tried to instill in him. All day long he is whispered at about what he should have, and what he should be doing at "his age".  Today while reading the Word these verses stood out.... Proverbs 23 15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17  Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the  Lord  all the day long His heart started to "envy" what these whisperers were saying to him and started to feel like he has been missing out on something in life.  Really?  How do we envy sinners?  How do we as professing believers say "
