Apologetics

The hardest part for most believers to do is defend their faith. Most believers who are confronted by an intellectual person who will challenge what they are saying are left stunned and unsure of how to truly defend the bible or even their faith. The answer they give when questioned are: "Because this is how I grew up.” or " well just because I believe it is true” without any support. This video from Voddie gives you a step by step answer on how you can defend your faith, most of all that the Word of God is true. "We have a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report super natural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.”- Voddie Baucham The support comes from 2 Peter 1:16-21 "For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Chri...

To Live is Christ

I decided this summer to start a new bible study- on my own. It is a Beth Moore study- I am in my second week and it is on the life of Paul. So far it has been very good- today’s time in the Word was on the life of Stephen. You know the very first martyr for Christ. Stephen's story in scripture is very short but very powerful. In the end, he was stoned to death and his last words were similar to the last words of Jesus. “Lord do not hold this sin against them.” Forgiving someone is not easy but to ask forgiveness of the very people who are killing you. Do wonder wow- how could he? He could have easily asked for the Lord to vindicate him. To make those people who were stoning him suffer for the pain they were causing him. Instead, he asked for God’s mercy to be upon them and for him to not bring judgment down for what they were doing. Why would Stephen do that? Why would he not ask to live? Why not beg God to stop this and intervene? Stephen realized his life was just a vapor that...

Where does our protection come from?

As human beings we go through wondering how and why the universe exists. How does the moon stay in the sky at night? Why doesn't the sun's heat burn up our planet? How do we go to sleep each morning and wake up every night? These mysteries oh can be given a scientific answer I am sure but truly the real answer is the Lord. He continues to do what He has done from the being of time as that is order and direct the world. I know it is hard to imagine or even understand in a world of evil, hurt, sin and pain, but it's true. He continues to guide and protect. The birds of the air do not worry about food because He continues to provide as man continues to destroy their natural habitat. You see He is with us. For those who do not believe how do explain the order of the world? How do you explain the way things go, and natural function? Honestly all explanations will eventually cease and there will be nothing left but the Lord. I find comfort in knowing that when my life seems to be...

In the World

My beloved preached yesterday on being "  in the Wo rld"  as we live in this fallen world -- how are we to respond being believers as we try so hard to figure out how to balance our walk with Christ and the distracts of this world, and standards within society... Listen to find out... Angie

Defeat vs Victory

Living in sin or endless cycles of sin, never seeing the sin for what it is.. Defeat- Why do we do it? Why do we relinquish ourselves to the flesh, never seeing it coming?  Are we really so blind to think that satisfying our flesh in anyway is NOT SIN??? Its like a swirling tornado in our lives, destroying everything in its path. I  know why in the WORD The Lord put story after story of the Israelites inability to resist their flesh. Their were two reason why they seemed always to submit to their sin.  1. They did not believe GOD.  2. Their desire for self over rode their love for Their Lord.  All seasons of SIN is rooted in unbelief. Think about that- every time the Israelites committed sin it was rooted in the fact that they did not believe The Lord was going to fulfill His promise to them. Wondering around the wilderness for their unbelief and NO MATTER what The Lord did - they still complained and they still rebelled because they did not believe. They wanted...

Leaving Home..

This questions remains in the back of my mind...  Where is it within the Word-the adaptation that has occurred in Church Society that when a young person becomes 18 years of age- that they are to go out and "spread their wings" and live on their own?  The bible is so clear on so many facts- sin, purity, marriage, men, women, children, relationships with one another and the foundation of the church, but the bible has nothing to say about this matter. I beg to differ. I believe the bible is clear its just that parenting a young adult is so difficult that it has become easier for parents to say "do what you want" and to turn a blinds eyes to their sin than to live out what the Word has. Let's begin with this very simple verse: This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 HCSB) Everyone knows this verse- this is the verse for marriage the one that tells us exactly what is to be done when a man marrie...

Do we realize?

This morning as I read the Scriptures this verse really stuck out JHN 5:19 ESV So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. It gave me such a clear picture of a small child mimicking his father, literally following in his footsteps watching everything his father does. Parents(we) do not realize how much our children watch us. How much they mimick  our behavior. Do you wonder why your children have not dedicated themselves to Christ? What is your walk like? Do you wonder why your children do not pray? Do you pray? Our children are a direct result of us. How we are, how we treat each others, and them. How we walk with  our Lord.. everything we do they watch, they learn. Christ stated - he can do nothing on His own accord, but only what he SEES the FATHER do. He was taking all his cues, direction from His heavenly Father. Did you know ...

Bible challenge update

I wish I could say I have been faithful every day to the Word as I would have like but I can't but I am slowly getting through the plan. It has this neat feature called catch me up and it readjust your start date so you don't remain behind. I know it's cheating but it does help me stay on it.... How about you??? ANGIE

Whisperings

Some of you know I have lots of children. Seven to be exact, and most of them are older and Most of them are young men except for one boy.   Lately one of my youngmen have been struggling. He works at an amusement park, and is around people all day long who standards, or morals do not quite match what we(through God's grace) have tried to instill in him. All day long he is whispered at about what he should have, and what he should be doing at "his age".  Today while reading the Word these verses stood out.... Proverbs 23 15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17  Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the  Lord  all the day long His heart started to "envy" what these whisperers were saying to him and started to feel like he has been missing out on something in life.  Really?  How do we envy sinners?  How do we as profe...

What Kind of Sower are You?

Mark 4:3-8 3 “Listen! Consider the sower who went out to sow. 4 As he sowed, this occurred: Some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it sprang up right away, since it didn’t have deep soil. 6 When the sun came up, it was scorched, and since it didn’t have a root, it withered. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it didn’t produce a crop. 8 Still others fell on good ground and produced a crop that increased 30, 60, and 100 times what was sown.” Jesus' explanation of this parable: Mark 4:14-20 14 The sower sows the word. 15 These are the ones along the path where the word is sown: when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word sown in them. 16 And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy. 17 But they have no root in themselves; they are short-lived. When pressure or persecution...

Family Betrayal

Mark 3:21 When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, “He’s out of His mind.” I am having a hard time understanding why Mary would do this to her Son? She knew how she conceived Him and knew who He was? Why would she say He is "out of his mind"? Families, the ones in your life you are suppose to be able to rely on. The ones who are suppose to be the most encouraging, and have the most faith in you are the ones that cause you greatest disappointment. I wonder how Jesus felt knowing this how His family felt and thought of Him? Betrayed, as we do or would? How many of you have felt that same kind betrayal from your family? What was Jesus' answer to that betrayal? Mark 3:33-35 33 He replied to them, “Who are My mother and My brothers?” 34 And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 35 Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.” It is hard for us to und...

Why people Fall by Pastor David Smith

Yesterday was an excellent sermon by our new pastor. He has been speaking on the topic of temptation and this sermon of course ties into that , Why People Fall? The text comes from Proverbs 7- 1 My son, keep my words, And lay up my commandments with thee. 2 Keep my commandments and live; And my law as the apple of thine eye. 3 Bind them upon thy fingers; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart. 4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; And call understanding thy kinswoman: 5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, From he foreigner that flattereth with her words. 6 For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice; 7 And I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, A young man void of understanding, 8 Passing through the street near her corner; And he went the way to her house, 9 In the twilight, in the evening of the day, In the middle of the night and in the darkness. 10 And, behold, there met him a woman With the attire of a harlot, and wily of ...

Prayer of my heart

My heart, my prayer- Psalm 143 1Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications: In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. 2And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous. 3For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; He hath smitten my life down to the ground: He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead. 4Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is desolate. 5I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy doings; I muse on the work of thy hands. 6I spread forth my hands unto thee: My soul thirsteth after thee, as a weary land. Selah 7Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit. 8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee. 9Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: I flee...

A time...

Ecclesiastes3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. For everything that we walk through there is a time, a season in which God uses for Him, to bring us closer to Him, to help us depend on Him, and for us to Love Him. What season are you walking in today? Are you in a season of healing? Are you in a season of mourning? Are you in ...

But God

This was written in our local Texas community paper and it was so profound and spoke straight to my heart with all the changes we will be going through with our move. BUT GOD : I want a life that by all accounts should have turned out a "certain" way.......but God!!! The kind of life that human reasoning or logic cannot explain. A life like the widow from 1Kings 17 who was going to make bread from the little flour and oil she had left and then die.....but God!!! The life of Daniel who trusted God even when he was faced with hunger-ravaged lions ready to devour him...... but God !!! A life like Joseph who, after being thrown into the pit by his own flesh & blood, not only forgave his offenders but believed God's great purpose in it all. Joseph understood what they had done was meant for evil. Yet when a famine hit the land and he had every opportunity to pay back his brothers, this is what he said..... 'BUT GOD sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remna...

Saying "I love you"...

Thinking about these words. These words that are to express our deepest emotions. These words that are to leave us vunerable and open, just do not seem to have the impact they use to. Many people use these words so fleeting. They use them as if to say "thank you", or "I thought about you today". For me "I love you" is not an easy thing to say. If I say I love you- I mean it from way down deep in my heart. They are not just words to be said but also words, that are to be put into action. Have you ever thought about that? When someone says "I love you", do they show through their actions that they love you?  or do they leave you going Huh, really? I have had those thoughts, wondering if the person who has declared their love really does love me because actions speak louder than words to me. I hear their words but then on the other hand see their actions and  they do not act like a person who even cares about my well being. Jesus never states in the...

The more I seek you...

The past few days have been strange. Side note:Not to mention we spent the weekend without AC- not that we are not grateful that we had a place to go to stay cool, but it is never easy to be in others homes, dependent upon them for shelter. You try to be mindful and considerate since they are putting themselves out for your comfort. We were truly blessed by their selflessness. Arriving home Monday, waiting for the AC guy to come, we spent the day in a 101 degree house. Do you know that when it is that hot, your fuse is VERY short? Your tolerance level is very low and you just do not want to put up with much more than the uncomfortableness of the heat. That is not a good combination at all!! (very dangerous trust me) Well back to my strangeness.. I have been feeling very unfulfilled.. not as a wife or a mother. Oh how I love those two jobs . Samuel is so easy, and such a wonderful man to care for, and to help. And my children- well the Lord has truly blessed me! I am unworthy of those ...

Have you withdrawn your love?

These past two weeks I have been seeking Him. Wondering where He was in my heart. Wondering why I "feel" so distant from him. And I have come to realize that I have withdrawn my heart, my love from Him. He has not gone any where. He is here, walking beside me waiting for me to see, what I had done. Confession time: I had withdrawn my heart from Him because he had not blessed me with another child. I go from being angry, to not understanding why this one prayer, which is in His Character.. (because He only answers prayers that are  in His Character- example if you pray make me rich (monetarily)Lord- he most likely will not do that because things of this world are  not important to Him) He has not answered. Does He even hear me? There I have said it. I am a brat.. a spoiled selfish, brat! In need of His forgiveness, and in need of His love! How many of you have withdrawn your love? It could be from a loved one, not just the Lord. Those we are closes to tend to hurt us the most,...

My prayer

The Lord of hosts is the God of the Sam Sellers family, even a God to the Sam Sellers family: and let the House of Sam thy servant be established before thee. For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray to thee. And now, Lord, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant. Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O Lord, and it shall be blessed forever.
