Memories

I can say since we have lived here in Texas our "fun" memories are very few and far in between.. As I sit here and try to think of any memories we(as a whole family) have had they are few.. When we first moved here my mother came for a visit and took us all to Sea World, Space Center, and to the beach.(all of us together)

I,myself, with the children have done some fun things, like take the children to the beach and to the Natural Science museum with my sister, but very few times with all of us together. Those are the memories that stick most with children.. the ones where mom, dad, and them are there enjoying life.

Last night was one of those VERY rare moments for us.. We went to the MLS Allstar game against Manchester United. Let me tell you my children were in there own man-made heaven.

We were surrounded by 70,000 other soccer fans, just like them

Of course before the game began they had what looked like a mini carnival going on outside the stadium with a bunch of blow ups, and a bunch of free stuff. The children got to get a picture with a Dynamo player Jeff Cameron- he is a defensive player.

We also walked around. I will share these scenes and environments are way out of our comfort zone. There was tons of alcohol all over the place, and with alcohol comes so many other things you don't want to see or even hear! Praise the Lord we were not out their long, because when we arrived was not long before the game was about to start.

We slowly walked into the stadium being herded like a bunch of cattle. We managed after 30 minutes of walking to make our way to our seats. Though the team we were routing for totally lost. It was a memory I know that they will not forget.

These are times I am most grateful to our Heavenly Father for!(memories that we will have to share)

  1. I am completely bummed that I missed that game! David and Noah thought it was amazing, even if MLS lost. I laughed when Noah went on and on about how far they had to walk, how crowded the train car was, and how many people were in the stadium. Glad you had such a memorable time ALL TOGETHER.

I know what you mean about that. The boys will often do something with one or the other of us, but it's not as often that we are all together.

BFS #124 - The Easy Button

Assignment - This week I would like you to post any prayer requests you have. What is going on in your life that you need prayer warriors for? When this assignment came through I was going to share  prayer request for a much needed rental home, and new job for my beloved, but in a blink of an eye those things were no longer a concern. A truly serious, and sobering matter occurred. I was not sure how to share with all of you this matter- and how desperate I was. I was not sure how to even lift my eyes towards heaven for fear that he would not hear me, or not even want what I was wanting.  I was not sure I could handle a loss of my child. My baby- my eldest- He is 18 years old, 6 days ago he started to develop these sharp pains that would shoot to the back of his eyes. At first he described them as a headache, but he realized it was not headache, and started to complain more of the pain, and stated that pain relievers were not working. I made a doctors appointment. When the do...

Traditions…

At this time of the year everyone is filled with traditions. Things they do every year  to prepare their hearts to celebrate the greatest, and truest meaning of this season- celebrating the Birth of our Savior. We are no exception.. we started this tradition last year. Our hearts were to focus ourselves completely on what we are celebrating and why we are celebrating it so every evening, we light these candles…   gather around the table to read the scripture for the night, we sing the corresponding carol/hymn, then daddy reads a story. The story normally goes with which every figure we must pull and set up for our nativity scene. So far this is what we have out: The Donkey was first- because he carried Mary to Bethlehem, then the cow- was probably in the stable, the sheep were probably brought by the Shepherds who came to see the Savior, and then the Shepherd. This scene is such a humbling scene, one that reminds us that our Lord did not arrive in a mansion, or place b...
