Daily Scripture and Thoughts

And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. (Mark 8:34, 35 ESV)

Dear Ones

This scripture is not uncommon to anyone of us. But truly how do we apply this to our lives. How do we deny ourselves? To many times in our lives we strive for happiness not by doing God's will in our lives but by satisfying ourselves and our flesh. Truly to call yourself a Christian- that Word as I said in the past  means Christ like. How are we being Christ like if we continue to be our self like- if our self is more important.

Have you thought about how much you truly love the Lord?
Do you love him enough to die to yourself?

Do you love him enough to lose your life for His Gospel?

To all these you can say yes- but when you are standing before others who are drinking or when you are alone and you turn on that computer to seek after your own lust or in that unmarried ungodly relationship are you dying to self?

Are you seeking to live for His Word? That is what it means to take up your cross and follow Him. You are to manifest His Word and you are and HE expects you to live by it.

Are you?

If not repent and seek Him as you should.

Whisperings

Some of you know I have lots of children. Seven to be exact, and most of them are older and Most of them are young men except for one boy.   Lately one of my youngmen have been struggling. He works at an amusement park, and is around people all day long who standards, or morals do not quite match what we(through God's grace) have tried to instill in him. All day long he is whispered at about what he should have, and what he should be doing at "his age".  Today while reading the Word these verses stood out.... Proverbs 23 15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. 16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things. 17  Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the  Lord  all the day long His heart started to "envy" what these whisperers were saying to him and started to feel like he has been missing out on something in life.  Really?  How do we envy sinners?  How do we as professing believers say "
